Alberta Art Hop | May 15 2010

What you need to know

Art on Alberta’s annual Art Hop is a beloved day-long arts focused festival drawing over 20,000 people to see displays by local artists and vendors of various disciplines, juried exhibits, and performances along a 17-block stretch of NE Alberta Street. The street festival is lively with plenty of opportunities for participants to interact with the arts and artists.

This year’s celebration (11am to 6pm on Saturday, May 15, 2010) presents the theme “ABC: Art Builds Community.” During the event, several murals will be added to the NE Alberta Street corridor at venues between Martin Luther King Blvd. and NE 33rd Avenue. The original neighborhood focused designs are being created by two artists—Rodolfo Serna and Esteban Camacho—who will lead groups of volunteers in painting the murals on event day. Community/project partnerships to effectively execute all aspects of the murals project have been established with Sabin CDC, Community Energy Project, Northeast Portland Tool Library and Oregon Tradeswomen.

From now until event day, if you see the Art Hop advertisement displayed on a TriMet bus, you can win a prize! Just email a photo of the ad to info@artonalberta.org before May 15.
