Magnificent Specimens | Beard and Mustache Portraits

What you need to know

Ever since moving here in the late 90′s, I have noticed something peculiar about Portland. The facial hair and the love of it. Mustaches, beards, goats, tees, goatees.

I thought…”Is Portland behind the times, or way ahead”? But now I know, the beard is timeless here in the Northwest. And now there’s a show that embraces that love and a contest that you have some time to prepare for.

SHOW
Magnificent Specimens by Dave Mead.

Land | 3925 North Mississippi Ave | Portland, Oregon 97227 | 503-451-0689
World championship beard and mustache portraits on display at Land until February 13, 2010.

Dave Mead is an Austin, Texas-based photographer who shoots advertising and editorial with a primary focus on the weird and unusual. In high school, good grades, bad haircuts and a budding interest in the creative arts were in his mix. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, studied advertising. A decade of producing TV commercials and being surrounded by great advertising led him to the world of photography and hence, this show.
