Born from a vacation to the Mexican Riviera, one of the first swim suit styles was created because I could not find a fashionable swimsuit that fit and flattered. I have always had a passion for styling of the past (40’s and 50’s in particular) and the swimwear was no exception. Reaching back to those eras, I created styles with the influence of days gone by but with the modern convenience of today’s fabric innovations and bathing suit construction. We believe you don’t have to “show it all” to be sexy. Our conservative, vintage 1950′s inspired women’s swimsuit line, made in the USA, provides modest swimwear designs which are fun, flattering and fashionable, drawing retro swimsuit inspiration from vintage swimwear styles of the past. Popina Swimwear will be opening their second location in Portland’s Downtown Pearl District in November 2010!  Once open, the Popina Pearl store will be the largest women’s swimwear store in the Northwest.  The Pearl store will have a similar feel to the Northeast Portland store, but will be brought up a notch with all that owner/designer Pamela Levenson has learned in the past five years.  The goal with the Pearl store is to create a world class swimwear store where women have fun shopping for bathing suits.  Come in for a visit to compare the two shops and look for First Thursday Travel events with expert guest speakers!

There will be a huge grand opening party set for First Thursday 11/4 (from 6-9pm) – it will be a blow out!  Beverages will be provided by New Deal Vodka, Kona Brewing and Hip Chicks do Wine.  Cupcakes Jones will be providing….Cupcakes.  Studio Luxe in the Pearl will be providing free nail changes and cosmetic consultations.  Plus there will be a fashion show produced by Frayn Masters of Back Fence PDX!  Thank you for helping us grow, please come help us kick off Popina Pearl in style we want to party with you!
