Reservations

We recommend Springtime reservations as the wildflowers are amazing. It's recommended to make camping reservations ahead of time through the Oregon Parks website, especially during peak summer months when the park fills up quickly. Additionally, check for any seasonal closures or special events that might affect availability.

Wildlife, Wildflower and Star Viewing

The park is rich in wildlife, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts. Keep your eyes peeled for deer, elk, and a diverse array of bird species. Birdwatchers will appreciate the park's numerous habitats, from forested areas to open fields, which attract different bird populations throughout the year.

When we visited in early May, wildflowers were in bloom absolutely everywhere. It was stunning to see hillsides covers with lupines that varied in color from pink, to purple and even yellow.

OMSI was holding star viewing parties at the overlook at the top of the park and it’s no surprise, as the skies were dark enough to enjoy even from your campsite, surprising, since the park is so close to Portland.

You can bring your own horse or inquire about local stables that offer rentals.
